THE 2012/2013 SEASON
This season, Mr. Ainsworth returns to sing some of his favourite roles and adds some others to his growing repertoire. He will be returning to Calgary Opera as Cassio in Verdi’s Otello, Opera Atelier as Tamino in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, makes his debut with the Alabama Symphony in Handel’s Messiah, and sings Janáček’s Diary of one who vanished with Against the Grain Theatre. He also has the honour of joining the Aldeburgh Connection as they close their 31st and final season with a recital of Benjamin Britten’s music. A new recording featuring the music of Handel, Haydn and Cherubini, conducted by Nicolas McGegan at the International Handel Festival in Göttingen, Germany, has just been released on the Carus label and a second CD, the art songs of Yakiv Stepovyi has just recently been released as part of the Ukrainian Art Song Project.
